Self-Guided, Science-Based CURRICULA for Teachers and Parents

Learning the science-based STORY OF 14 BILLION YEARS of cosmic, planetary, life, and human evolution in fun and meaningful ways can be transformative for kids. Curriculum materials are available on the themes listed below. All of these are intended for use by parents and teachers who wish to integrate a science-based understanding of the world and the cosmos with whatever spiritual or philosophical worldview the child is being raised within. These worldviews include liberal forms of Christianity and other religions of the Bible, humanism, paganism, religious naturalism, Buddhism, and more. Only those perspectives that treat a scriptural text as literal and unchanging truth would be incompatible with these programs.
Read Connie Barlow's August 2008 sermon, "Evolution Now: A Manifesto for Our UU Congregations", which is a plea for Unitarian Universalists (and other liberal religious folk) to ensure that we give our children a coherent, inspiring Creation Story to guide their lives and love for all of creation.

The DEATH curriculum centers on viewing and discussing a DVD presentation by Connie Barlow of "Death Through Deep Time Eyes" (illustrated talk, concluding in sing-along) and "Gifts of Death" Litany. Discussion can be enhanced by using supplementary materials downloadable through this website, along with a HIGH RESOLUTION, LARGE FORMAT POSTER that you can download and print out at Kinkos or somewhere. Highly recommended for liberal religious "Coming of Age" programs.
